This furnace is now obsolete. The nearest replacement model is the TF3 12/60/450.

Carbolite TZF 12/38/400 Three Zone Tube Furnace, heated length 400mm. The integral wire-wound work tube has an internal diameter of 38mm. Maximum power consumption is 1300 watts.

Three-wire resistance-heating elements surround the built-in ceramic work tube, all of which can be controlled separately. This provides excellent uniformity and rapid heat-up.

The maximum temperature is 1200°C, with a continuous operating temperature of 1100°C. Heat-up time is 25 minutes. Uniform length is 305 mm plus or minus 5°C.

The TZF heated length is divided into three zones. In a standard single-zone tube furnace, uniformity drifts towards the tube ends. On the TZF range, the uniform zone in the mid-section of the work tube is extended using end-zone controllers that track the centre-zone temperature and compensate for heat loss at the ends of the tube. These three control systems balance the power to the heating elements.

For inserting gases into the atmosphere and applying a vacuum, a separate, longer work tube can be purchased for insertion into the furnace’s built-in ceramic work tube. The protruding ends can then have plugs, seals, or gas or vacuum adaptors added. There is also a choice of tube material with different resistance properties to prevent damage for specific applications. This has the added benefit of protecting the integral tube and heating elements during operation.

For special applications, the models can be supplied with three equal heated lengths.

Common TZF range features

  • Excellent Uniformity.
  • Inbuilt tube wire-wound tube.
  • Supplied with Carbolite Gero 301 controller, with one ramp to set temperature.
  • The furnace can be mounted vertically using an L stand with the controller in a separate control box.

TZF 12/38/400 standard supplied, Horizontal configuration mounted on the control module.

Used widely in industry, including testing novel materials, electronics/Semiconductors under inert atmospheres or vacuum, and temperature sensors such as thermocouples and PT100s.

Options

  • For cooling, re-transmission of the set point.
  • Electrical configuration: 2-phase electrical supply possible.
  • Over-temperature protection is used if the furnace has expensive contents or is left unattended for long periods.
  • Insulation plugs, Work Tube Seals  & Radiation shields to increase uniformity and combat heat loss.
  • A range of eight to twenty segment programmable digital controllers and data loggers is available with RS-232 and RS-485 communication options.
  • Pumps are offered for vacuum applications: a rotary vane pump or a turbo molecular pump.
