The Honeywell Searchzone Sonik is an Ultrasonic gas leak detector that senses the sound generated by high-pressure gas leakage at the source. Suitable for use in hazardous areas.
Traditional point detectors or Open Path units will not pick up leaks unless gas comes into contact with the sensor. In an outside environment, these leaks can be dispersed by wind and go undetected. The Searchzone Sonik is unaffected by weather conditions, but background noise can affect its range. General radius 20m (65 ft). Operation in Normal mode gives wide-angled detection suitable for areas with low background noise.
Switching to Focus mode engages specialised algorithms that combat background noise from areas of no interest. The intelligent background noise detection system allows the detector to be set to maximum sensitivity in Focus Mode, restricting the detection area to the hazard being monitored and thereby avoiding false alarms.
For commissioning and configuration, use Bluetooth on a hazardous-area-approved mobile device. A testing tool assists with setup at ground level, eliminating the need to work at height, saving time, and ensuring safety in harsh weather conditions. The universal mount allows wall, pole and strut mounting with alignment adjustment. To assist installation, angled cable entries (2 x M25 or 2 x ¾ NPT) and plugin terminals are provided, isolated from the sensor components.
The Searchzone Sonik does not require any calibration, as it is fitted with a solid-state sensor and has no moving parts, allowing deployment in the harshest of environments.
