Designed for a rapid response, the Drager Pulsar 7000 is a fixed open path detector for flammable hydrocarbons, for example, Methane, Propane and Ethylene. IR energy is emitted between the transmitter and receiver; any attenuation caused by hydrocarbons in the beam is electronically processed to provide a gas concentration in LEL metres. Measuring range minimum 0 to 4 LEL m, maximum 0 to 8 LEL m
Distance between transmitter and receiver defines the operating range, which is 4 to 60 m, 30 to 120 m or 100 to 200 m. A build-up of Hydrocarbons can be measured up to 200 metres away in under two seconds by an automatically increasing frequency. If signal interference occurs from dirty optics or other, the system will continue to be operational; a configurable alarm will trigger, providing a forewarning of maintenance needed. The Pulsar 7000 pacifies weather effects; increased flash and light intensity compensate for increased absorption caused by mist, fog, rain or snow. Heated optics also prevent condensation and ice deposits on the lens.
A handheld terminal acts to align and zero the transmitter and receiver, connected by an intrinsically port. The transmitter and receiver can be aligned by one operator visually. The exact alignment of transmitter and receiver is performed using the handheld terminal, no need for any telescope or alignment mirror. Calibration does not require test gas. Once zeroing is completed, the system is operation ready. Parameters stored, any later misalignment or residues on the lens detected. The handheld terminal also is used for diagnostics and maintenance.
Included is a data logger for signal blocks, warnings, gas alarms, alignment and power issues. Gas readings are logged over sixty minutes, along with signal strength and temperatures for ten weeks of operation. A weekly condensed version is available for the last ten years.
