The 3M Scott Flite COV is an open-circuit, positive-pressure airline breathing apparatus comprising a bandolier harness and a positive-pressure airline apparatus consisting of an automatic positive-pressure demand valve, a supply hose, and a coupling for the airline supply hose.
The Flite COV is fitted with a coupling that attaches to the automatic Change Over Valve (COV) and allows connection to an independent air supply for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on cylinder size.
The cylinder and facemask are to be ordered separately. Use with full-face masks, Vision 3, or Promask PP.
Applications
The Flite COV is specifically designed as an airline working set, with its optional hip-mounted cylinder serving as an airline escape set. It has many applications but is particularly suited to confined space entry and the oil and gas industry. It is also suitable for providing respiratory protection in any IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health) environment.
Operation
The airline coupling is a male CEN type and is mounted on a pigtail assembly. It also incorporates a non-return valve that prevents air from the attached cylinder from escaping when the apparatus is detached from the airline supply. Optional Foster/Hansen mil-spec and Hansen HK-type fittings are available. The escape cylinder utilises a locking hand wheel to keep it open and prevent inadvertent closure.
Features
- If a main supply interruption reduces airline delivery pressure, the automatic changeover valve switches the unit to cylinder air for safe egress. When the switchover to cylinder air occurs, the user is alerted by a whistle.
- The combined cylinder and pressure-reducing valve features a locking hand wheel that remains locked in the open position against inadvertent closure and a pressure gauge.
- Compressed air steel cylinders are available in 10- and 15-minute durations, with a 15-minute lightweight carbon composite version also available.
- CEN-type coupling as standard; other connections available.
- Features the Tempest demand valve with low inspiratory resistance, automatic first-breath activation, and responsive dynamic performance.
- The unit is simple to operate and maintain.
- Certified to EN 14593-1:2005 and EN 402:2003 standards.
